Terms of Use

Canis is an experimental local AI assistant.

These terms apply to the Canis iOS app, TestFlight beta, website, and related support materials provided by Big Bear Engineering GmbH.

Short Version

Use Canis as an experimental AI tool. Verify important answers, especially in medical, legal, financial, safety, or other high-stakes contexts. The disposition readout is an interpretability signal, not a guarantee that an answer is correct.

Scope

Canis is designed to answer questions locally, use user-provided Sources, and show a model disposition readout. The app may be distributed through TestFlight before App Store release. Beta features can change, break, or be removed.

AI Outputs

Sources and User Documents

If you add documents as Sources, you confirm that you have the right to use those files in the app. Canis processes Sources locally for retrieval and citation, but you should not rely on it as the only copy or archive of important documents.

Permitted Use

Privacy

Data handling is described in the Canis Privacy Policy. Canis is local-first and does not require an account.
